Handmade stoneware checkered ceramic mugs, now available in a few new colors!! Comfortable large handles and a generous 16-20 oz. size, these durable yet lightweight mugs are perfect for your favorite warm beverage and large enough for a cozy cup of soup.
— NEW Sand & Sea Blue features a vibrant Mediterranean blue glazed checkered pattern against a buff raw tan speckle clay, and the inside is a bright turquoise Bora Bora blue.
— NEW Sea Salt features a glazed checkered pattern using a matte crystal glaze that resembles an off white salty speckled look with small light green crystals in it when you look closely. The glaze is smooth and matte. The inside is a subtly gorgeous grey ombre.
— Satin Red
A creamy, lucious classic red glaze that’s a silky smooth matte contrasted by a raw speckle buff tan clay. Interior features a white satin glaze that reveals the clay’s natural speckle to show through.
— Sand-gria, a palette of handpainted deep purples, brown, and touches of blue in the outer checkered pattern. Inside is a vibrant Blue-Purple Sangria shiny glaze. Part of the Fall-Winter 2024 Collection.
— White Speckle Sand is the original CxC color, featuring a silky white satin glaze which highlights the natural speckled beauty of the buff clay that shows through the checkered pattern on the outside and on the inside.
The handles are hand pulled individually, then attached carefully to each wheel thrown cup. First, wax is handpainted onto each mug, then the mug is handpainted in Satin Matte White glaze or a combination of 2-6 glaze colors to create the specific glaze effects seen. The glaze sticks to the non-waxed clay and the waxed clay remains bare without glaze, revealing a checkered pattern of color & natural buff checks. The wax helps ensure crisper & cleaner edges in the checkered pattern.

Each mug is handmade and hand waxpainted. The mugs are thrown on a wheel, fired, then glazed using a handpainted wax resist technique to create a checkered pattern with a handpainted glaze color on top. Please always use caution with hot liquids.
